Day 10 - Pages 8, 9 and 10

Boy, have I been behind! I only just caught up after missing Saturday's and doing two more for Sunday and Monday. Anyway, so here we open up the first hint of the actual plot, right now. The final page shows the Happy Moving van. Note that this is the first mention of Hcaz in the whole comic so far. Unfortunately, there is no shading on the final page. I don't know what I was thinking, but anyway there is a rich, detailed environment to make up for my poor memory. Ugh.
Anyway, that van gave me more trouble then I like to admit. Coloring it was a nightmare, so I didn't even want to think about shading. The houses were also a nightmare, mostly because I had to keep the colors exactly the same from the first page. Anyway, thats all for today. Maybe tomorrow I will have enough energy to go over the process of making a page.

Day 4 - Page 4

Day 4 means Page 4, and thats what this is! Ah, what a nice page. For once, a different layout, which is nice. But enough of that! Its time for...

OK, heres a major technical dilemma: In the middle panel, the big one, Zach was actually too big, so I only had room to draw his head. That meant that he looked ridiculous, so I scaled his head down, copied a body from a different Zach elsewhere in the page,  and scaled the body down, and then did some tricky stuff to attach the head to the body. Then I saved it to a compressed layer format, and colored it in.

Now for...

Yay! So you will notice some very nice shading is going on. I have shade on Zach's skin color, and shading on Big Fist. Note how the background isn't shaded, but you don't really notice it until I say so.

Thats all for shading now for...

Here is the page WITHOUT balloons, captions or anything in Comic Life, just straight from Corel.

You will notice that most of the artwork has to be cut off in Comic Life.
Its probably because the lines from the "panels" in my page are in the way. Oh well, no fixing that.

Anyway, thats about all this week, we won't come to The Vision for a while and The Age Old Debate can wait for tomorrow's post. And now, I'm hungry. I didn't eat breakfast yet.

Bye for now!

Almost Time!

One day away to the time I start making my comic. :D
The way its going to work is that I will have a very light pencil sketch of where I want everything in the scene. I will then use varieties of pens to achieve a "layering thickness" effect. I will then scan the result, color it in Corel Painter, and then move the image to Comic Life.

Because I only have 111.1 megabyte space on my disk, I will need to clear up some stuff.
So excuse me for a minute while I do so.

...

OK, back!

Anyway, I have figured out that 365 divided by 5 equals 73, which is how long each story in my volume is going to be. The only plots I have are the ones in my head. I plan to take the story as far as I can go each day, and I also plan to put tons of detail into it. Anyway, thats about all I can do now. Note that I may show pencil to pen to color to finished page only on pages that seem to need a more detailed study.
I hope this is as fun for you as it SHOULD BE for me. :P

Now my favorite part... The Vision! In order for you to understand it when I show you pages of my WIP comic, as I am making it, I must tell you the plot of each part of this volume.
Also, I might be able to rig up a little slideshow somewhere on this blog where you will be able to see the whole comic. But, until then... I only have... THE VISION!
OK, here goes.

Hey that was easy. Oh, duh! I wrote that a while ago! Its the synopsis for the first story in the volume!
Anyway, now that you know the plot, I can proceed as planned.
Have fun reading, and look out for that slideshow! :D
